How do I schedule a tour?
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, NHCS campuses are closed and no on-site tours can be scheduled at this time. We expect to be back on campus in mid June and to reopen for a 4-week summer program in July. We encourage you to browse through our website and take a look through the photos taken on our campus. Until we are able to resume tours, one of our administrative staff will be happy to connect via email, phone call ,or video conferencing to answer any questions families may have.
When we are able to resume tours, tours are scheduled on Tuesdays or Thursdays between 9:00 and 11:00 am. If you wish to schedule a tour please complete the tour tab on our website or email the school at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once we are back on campus, you may also call to schedule a tour at 808-687-3776. If emailing or if leaving a message on the school line, please leave the following information: your name, the age of your preschooler or grade of your elementary/middle school student, your child's name, and your contact information. We will get back to you shortly.
What type of Accreditation and/or licensing does New Hope Christian School hold?
New Hope Christian School’s preschool and before/after care elementary programs are licensed by the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services. The school is accredited through Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). More information on ASCI may be found at: https://www.acsi.org/
What are your school hours?
Preschool school hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm
Elementary/Middle school hours are Monday -Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm* We do offer an after school care program for grades K-8 from the end of the regular school day till 5:30pm each day.
*NCCS’s Elementary/Middle School has an early release on Wednesdays at 1:30pm.
Are meals and snacks included as part of the tuition cost?
Snacks: A morning and afternoon snack* are offered daily. Preschool students get a breakfast/morning snack between 8:30 and 9:30am. and an afternoon snack after nap.*In our elementary program, afternoon snack is only offered to those in the after school program.
Lunch: In light of COVID-19 and increased sanitization concerns, we will not offer a hot lunch program nor will we have a group lunch area in the 2020-2021 school year.
Do the students wear uniforms?
Uniforms are not required in preschool, but we do have a PS excursion shirt students wear on all school excursions. (The school will provide an excursions shirts at the beginning of the school year.)
Uniforms are required for elementary and middle school students. *NHCS will be moving to a new uniform vendor in the Fall of 2020. (Information will be updated in June 2020)
How old does my child have to be to enter New Hope Christian School?
Our very youngest preschool children are 2 years old. (For age requirements for specific preschool classes, view " preschool" tab.)
Do children have to be potty trained before they are able to start school?
Children who enter our 2’s program DO NOT need to be potty trained. However, children entering our 3's, 4’s, and junior kindergarten DO have to be potty trained prior to the start of school.
Does your school help with potty training?
New Hope Christian School will assist families in the 2-year-old class with the important step of toilet training. To achieve, this, the preschool staff and parents must work together and communicate about progress. Please note: Students entering our 3's, 4’s or junior kindergarten classes must be fully potty trained before entering preschool.
If my child isn’t potty trained will it cost more?
No! We do not have an additional charge if your child is not fully potty trained. Children in our 2-year old classes may still be in diapers or pull-ups. Parents are to provide supplies (including baby wipes).
Do you offer a before and after care program for preschool?
Due to the change in DHS guidelines in light of Covid-19, NHCS has had to modify hours for the 2020-2021 school year. Care will be available from 7:00 am - 5:00pm. We will not charge for before care from 7:00 - 7:30 am. for the 2020-2021 school year.
ELEMENTARY / MIDDLE SCHOOL
What curriculum does your school use?
The base of our elementary and middle school curriculum is Abeka. Abeka is a Christ-centered curriculum that provides our students with a strong academic foundation. Abeka is used for language arts, math, social studies, and science.
Do you offer a before and after care program?
Due to the change in DHS guidelines in light of Covid-19, NHCS has also modified hours for our elementary/middle school program of the 2020-2021 school year.Before care is available from 7:00am - 7:30am daily. Since we must cut the before care hours this year, we are waiving the regular monthly charge of $50 a month. .
After school is also available when school ends at 3:00pm until 5:30pm. The current cost for after- school care is also $50 a month. On Wednesdays, when school finishes at 1:30 pm, after-school care starts at 1:30 pm.
